You read the title right. Face the facts. All PlayStation first-party multiplayer games FAILED because they couldn't compete with Halo, and then later against Call of Duty.

SOCOM failed, Killzone failed, MAG failed, Resistance failed, Uncharted online failed, The Last of Us online failed.

It's now going to get even worse since Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard. The number one selling game on the PlayStation platform is now owned by and will be published by their direct competitor. Sony has failed to take hold of the online gaming space and its dependency on games like Call of Duty and NBA2K has kept it afloat. This is the beginning of the end for Sony in the online gaming market space. They chose to prioritize single-player cinematic experiences but those titles come out once every 3-4 years. These online games are released yearly, to say the least. Sony is running out of options to compete in the online gaming market, and the PlayStation brand may never recover from this.
