The controls of Rastan consists of an eight-way joystick, a button for attacking, and a button for jumping. By using the joystick in combination with either button, the player can determine the height of Rastan's jumps, as well as the direction he swings his weapon (including downwards while jumping). The game uses a health gauge system along with limited lives, although certain obstacles (such as falling into a body of water or being crushed by a spiked ceiling) will instantly kill Rastan regardless of how much health he has left.
There are a total of six rounds, each consisting of three areas: an outdoor scene, a castle scene and a throne room where the player must confront the stage's boss. The backgrounds of the outdoor areas feature broad landscapes with changing sunlight effects with detail.
The bosses are, in order of appearance:[5]
King Graton, a halberd-wielding skeletal warrior;
King Slay, a demonic winged sword-master;
Symplegades, the wizard-king;
Laios, the dragon-king;
The Hydra, a five-headed snake-like monster;

『ラスタンサーガ』 (Rastan Saga) は、1987年にタイトーから稼働されたアーケード用横スクロールアクションゲームである。日本国外では『Rastan』のタイトルで稼働された。
主人公「ラスタン」を操作し、最終ボスであるドラゴンを倒すのを目的としている。
日本国内では1988年にMSX2、1991年にゲームギアに移植された。北米や欧州では1988年にセガ・マスターシステム、Amstrad CPC、コモドール64、ZX Spectrum、1990年にApple II GS、PC/AT互換機に移植された。
アーケード版は後に、日本国内ではPlayStation 2用ソフト『タイトーメモリーズ 上巻』（2005年）、PlayStation Portable用ソフト『タイトーメモリーズ ポケット』（2006年）に移植された他、北米および欧州ではPlayStation 2ならびにXbox、Windows用ソフト『Taito Legends』（2005年）に移植された。また、2014年からは業務用ビデオゲーム筐体のコンテンツ配信システム『NESiCAxLive』の設置店で遊べるタイトルとして配信されている。

Los controles de Rastan consisten en un joystick de ocho vías y dos botones para atacar y saltar. Al usar el joystick en combinación con cualquiera de los dos botones, el jugador puede determinar la altura de los saltos de Rastan, así como la dirección donde hay un total de seis rondas, cada una de las cuales consta de tres áreas: una escena al aire libre, una escena de castillo y una sala del trono Donde el jugador debe enfrentarse al jefe del escenario. Los fondos de las áreas al aire libre presentan paisajes amplios con efectos de luz solar cambiantes con detalle.
