Early boots led to....a comedy of errors in the early game for me!!! Early boots is always "nice" in that it helps get everywhere faster (minus all the bonks that I have) but also not nice in that I don't have nearly as much time for marking my tracker and thinking about things. This leads to...careless mistakes. Here's how that went down:
OK for once I'm not gonna check lumberjack cave, [gets cape and boots] WHELP, wish I had checked lumberjack cave. I guess I can route it in later when I go to death mountain.
Wow, we got the "kakariko full of random tools" this game! We have a cape, boots, mail, shovel, bottle, and bugnet. I grabbed some extra bombs from the bombable hut in the bottom left, then grabbed the 300 rupees off of race game to ensure money for Zora (turned out to be a waste of time).
Went into mini-moldorm cave, do I want to try this with bombs? Hm, let's just play it safe and use bombos instead WAIT I don't have a sword....ok, bombs it is....executed it perfectly anyways. Water walk into waterfall cave paid off big time with an out-of-logic bow. Got the lamp from Zora, ok this looks like an aga seed. Wait...I was water walking, why am I fake swimming now?? Ok, what happens if I jump into the water...omg am I softlocking? Oh okay, I'm fine. Now let's try to splash delete using arrows and bombs to get the mushroom on the ledge....ok I failed twice, I give up.
OK, let's do back of escape now into bonk rocks...WAIT I have no bombs since I just wasted them all! OK let's just do death mountain first. Pick up the old man...oh crap I forgot to check what was on lumberjack cave. WAIT I can still do back of escape even with no bombs since you can use boots to open the wall. Ok, do that. Wait....should I do dark cross now? Can I even get there easily without a sword? Whatever I'll just do it later with the front of escape.
Save and quit....ok let's go full clear eastern palace, WAIT I still have no bombs! Oh, right, you can get some from the rocks in front of Link's house. Is one bomb enough??? Yes, it is. Pick up moon pearl from sahasrahla, ok this is definitely an aga seed. Full clear EP.
OK let's do front of escape and if we don't find any progression we'll just go and do Aga while we're there. WAIT we don't have a sword. That's fine, the sword is probably in front of escape since there's 4 items there. WAIT do I have enough arrows to actually do front of escape?? Yes, I'm fine....ohcrap I missed an arrow....ok I'm fine, I can use a bomb. OK, I didn't get anything, let's do dark cross.....ok still nothing. So I can't do Aga. That means my sword is at Agina.
Check Agina, no sword, huh?? WAIT I can dip into Hera. Ok, my sword must be in pendant Hera. Wow I have no sword to hit the crystal switches....thank goodness I picked up the blue boomerang from outside dam. Whoa, flute! That...doesn't unlock anything though. Waitaminute, I have no sword, how can I kill these hardhat beetles? WHAT arrows do no damage?? Uhhhhhh okay, I guess two pots plus a bomb does the trick. OK, so my sword has to be in the big chest...I'm not gonna risk the bomb jump without a sword. Fall down, noooooo big chest has a small key. Okay, so the sword is in the basement...
At this point I'm laughing because this seed required you to pick up the boomerang to hit crystal switches in Hera, then use bombs to kill the hardhat beetles, then get a small key from the big chest, then go back and do the basement chest....what a seed. Wait.....it's just a compass. UHHHHHH
Ok, clearly I messed up somewhere. Did I miss bottle vendor? No....ok let's just activate flute while I'm at it. Ermmm....wtf...ok let's check lumberjack cave. WAITAMINUTE did I check bonk rocks? Wait.....it's.....nooooooooooo
Yeah I marked bonk rocks off my tracker despite not getting it. asdfjklsk;fs
I finished Hera before doing Aga1 which was a waste of time (doubling down I guess, plus I forgot that aga1 would unlock the front of POD, not just catfish and pyramid) So I started Aga1 =40 minutes in= after last-locationing the sword =( It's a miracle I still got a sub-2 time with that honestly, but the rest of the seed was pretty good fortunately. At least I got the flute out of it...
