What a charming game. Shame I didn’t play it during the time period. Also a shame it’s unlikely people can divorce it from the original Alundra, despite it being very clearly and very intentionally a different game with a different tone.

There are no subtitles and sound options do not affect cutscenes.

Please note that this is segmented and edited. As this is primarily a 3D game, I am using a widescreen hack. I am also using PGXP, though it doesn’t do much for this game.

Remember, this is a PS1 game and the PS1 itself had several shortcomings, so even with enhancements there are unavoidable issues, issues that would be present if I were playing this on actual hardware.

Notes
In Dragonia, if you drop down the first pit you come across, you can do a puzzle for the 5th sword but if you have the 6th already, all you get is a Panacea for the trouble. Later on, I skip the puzzle for the 5th shield for a similar reason as well.

Regarding the inefficiency with Seagull Ruins and the trading quest: The one guide that’s floating around isn’t exactly clear regarding when you can do things. I assumed that the trigger for the barrel placement was related to you getting the Fire Ring but that may actually be wrong. I wasn’t going to redo segments. Having the sword for Dragonia is probably a good idea, too.

For Deadeye Zach, I cut to after I’ve accumulated the points necessary to acquire the rewards as it is just the same thing over and over again for quite a while. I had to stop mid-way through to go grind more Bone Darts in Kindra Forest. The monkeys there on the first screen drop them quite regularly, can be killed in one hit and will respawn if you move to the second screen and then back. This took about 3 hours total because I didn’t bother to abuse the tools I have available until I had gotten ~21000 points.

As for Gamar Island, I simply refused to do that to myself after playing darts. You need 13500 medals to get the four rings, which no doubt takes several hours if you play the games. It’s way faster to just get the gold and exchange it for medals. I’m not sure the rings are worth it on normal mode and easy mode has to be a total joke by the end anyway.

It seems that the 800 gold crest in Paco at the very start of the game is missable. Alas. Obsessives driven up a wall.

Regarding the final boss: It’s really annoying. I don’t think landing on and hitting his head during the second phase does anything and the final phase is just Flint getting tossed around like a doll if you try to fight it normally. You can hit the hands to disable them for a few seconds but their hitbox is quite small and they’re more likely to slap you first. In any case, you can only hit him twice at a time so it unavoidably drags on quite a bit.
