Am I Afraid of Ghosts?Among The Whispers:Provocation-Chichuki Views
1It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Views, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. Today, we're checking out Among the Whispers:Provocation on Steam.
You could compare Among the Whispers to the likes of Phasmophobia where you go into certain locations and hunt for ghosts/paranormal entities. One major difference between the properties is that Among the Whispers felt like a much less polished product. There were times where it too hard to see what was going on and then there were other times where I couldn't even begin to figure out what I was trying to do. It was also another game that I was unable to change the resolution on the screen so it was very difficult to read directions and see other things during the gameplay. You are hired on as a contracted ghost hunter and you have tasks to perform to determine what kind of entity you have found.
You'll have a check list of tasks to do in each room of the house and that will help you determine what ghost it actually is. You'll have to place the camcorder in a spot of the room for example. There were times when I thought I was doing a task but nothing happened. Maybe it's me but I just couldn't figure out how to get some of these things to work. While investigating, you'll start to lose nerve and will make hunting so much more difficult. To regain nerve, you'll have to return to camp to calm down. I will have to say, the locations are pretty creepy and help set the mood to scare the hell out of you. There was a time when I did run into a specter in the house and it really got me.
Among The Whispers:Provocation is an interesting game that slightly misses the mark when it comes to ghost hunting. If things were a little more polished and easier to use, then I think this game could be pretty good. But it doesn't do it for me but on the plus side, I don't want to be a ghostbuster anyway.
