This requires lots of inputs in order to get the speed boost (around a frame or two just before falling). I tapped forwards just before the room transition starts and then I held it and tapped backwards after the room transition ends.

It's still inconsistent but at least is something worth to try since the time lost on failing it is pretty minimal.
