Amazing Video Game Music #120: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Chapter Boss Themes
Game: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (Nintendo Gamecube, 2004)
Even more awesome boss themes from another awesome game. I prefer these ones over the ones in the N64 Paper Mario. Special thanks to Hardysforever for the official names.
Dragon Slaying Battlel: I wouldn't call it menacing but it does sound very beastly. It fits for a fight against a gigantic dragon that uses up almost the entire screen. This also plays during the fights with Gloomtail and Bonetail and it fits for them as well. Also why do the Entelexia from Tales of Vesperia remind me so much of the three dragons in this game (looks like I went off track there).
Magnus Von PUNISH: A good mix of powerful sounding music with some techno beats. Once again a good fit for a fight against a giant mech suit. The techno sound effects in this one are catchy as well.
MACHO GRUBBA: Probably my third favorite. It's extremely catchy and at the same time fits how during the fight Grubba has gone mad with power. There's also some sound effects in this one that remind me of a malfunctioning machine.
Battle Against Mario, No Doopliss: My favorite of the chapter boss themes and probably my favorite in the series. Totally demented and creepy sounding. The usage of bells and piano in this one seem to fit how insane this situation of this fight is and how Doopliss has stolen your identity.
Ship Battle with Cortez: Second favorite of the chapter boss themes. Has the vibe of a pirate fight theme and some ghastly sound effects as well. You are fighting a ghost pirate after all.
It's a Swarm of Smorgs: You got a fight on the top of a train against a monster that comes out of nowhere and looks totally ridiculous. Yeah this theme works well for the situation of the fight and how random yet monstrous this boss is. It's a really hectic and strange sounding boss theme to say the least.
For those of you wondering why I haven't included any final boss themes in these collections. Well I may address the lack of final boss themes in the future *hint hint*.
