Remember about 30 years ago when going shopping was almost a hobby? Retail locations had pretty high prices but their employees got paid a bit better, I believe. These days everything is mass produced by slave labor from China and sold at bottom dollar at big box stores. The big box stores shut out the small retail location and now internet stores are pushing out big box stores.
The large retail places like Sears and JCPenny has had a hard time operating in this new markets and have shut down many of their stores. This has left huge gaps within malls that are left vacant. Reports now say that Amazon is looking into purchasing these places in order to turn them into fullfillment centers.
