AMD Ryzen vs. Intel System Latency Benchmark: Best Gaming CPUs for Fortnite, CSGO, etc.
We're benchmarking the input latency/lag (end-to-end system latency) of AMD vs. Intel CPUs for Fortnite, CSGO, Rocket League, Overwatch, and more in this test of the best CPUs for gaming.

TEST BENCH NOTES: We used our standard CPU review test bench (2080 Ti to minimize CPU bottlenecks, alongside the standard RAM and motherboards). For more information on our test bench components selection, view any of our CPU reviews from the Ryzen 3 or Intel 10 series launches. The articles contain bench notes.
In our continued look at AMD Ryzen and Intel CPU performance in gaming, we're now expanding our testing to specifically target the end-to-end total system latency, or what is colloquially referred to as "input latency" or "input lag." Esports & Competitive players are the most likely to discuss this topic, as it's often associated with other links in the chain which are responsible for hit registration (or 'hit reg') and hit boxes. Server tick rate and network latency are a part of the chain for multiplayer games, but we're trying to narrow-down testing to focus explicitly on the CPU. We conducted a minimum of 80-90 manual test passes for each game benchmarked (CSGO, Fortnite, Rocket League, Overwatch, Sniper), with most of these focusing on a high framerate competitive scenario. Parts tested include the Intel i5-10600K, Intel i3-10100 (2666MHz), AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, AMD R7 3700X.
