Amiga 2000 HD - Adding A 2 Megabyte Memory Card - Strange Demo Errors - Organ Music - Episode 1216
Time to install a 2 megabyte memory card into this Amiga 2000! There is an invoice about a repair done long ago...there is also what seems to be a SCSI card, likely to connect an external hard drive along with this, but as there is a hard drive in this machine and I do not have an external hard drive available, I will hold off on any experimentation with it...
The Amiga 500 store demo does not appear to be friendly towards this extra ram...strange...very strange...
Continuing to take a trip down the Amiga memory lane! Multi-Tasking used to be just not possible in the computer world, but then along came the Amiga!!!
Guru Meditations are sure to come along soon!
Looking at more things that came along with the Amiga 2000 HD...there is a memory card that seems to have needed to be repaired long ago...and with great excitement I found a GVP Accelerator board...which is really 2 boards, with RAM and the promise of having this machine really get up and go!
The Amiga 2000 was a great box to add things to...it might have looked big and clunky, but it was indeed like a blank canvas with so much potential to add so many glorious wonderful things like the IBM XT and AT cards, the toaster as well as other things that could go into the video slot, more memory, accelerator cards, disk drive controllers and on and on it goes...so much could be added...and the installation was pretty easy...remove 5 screws, open up machine...remove a blank slot cover, insert and away you go...the 3000 and the 4000 might have looked cooler...but the 2000 was the work horse of the fleet!
Trying to remember AmigaDos Commands...dealing with read errors, etc, etc, etc...still looking at the store demo in BW...these demo programs were put together mostly but not entirely by Commodore for stores to leave running, sometimes overnight, in their front window to catch the passersby...hoping they might come back to have a look...but there was nothing like the bouncing ball demo...which I thought I was getting, but alas, I still do not have it...oh well...stay tuned...the Amiga 4000 is coming soon!
The exploration of the waking up of this Amiga 2000HD continues...yes, I found a keyboard, and yes, I finally have it connected to a monitor so you can see what is what, but I still have to find a mouse...and the 520 adapter would be good, but for the moment, we can still do some testing...and assessing...behold the magic of one of the vintage computer store demo's from so long ago!
