Amiga Stream the Sixth: RL:I, Keef the Thief, Journey
RL:I. I love you. YOU BETTER LOVE IT.
Keef the Thief, amazing intro in the manual, but didn't care for the super shaded copy protection in the manual. I much preferred the code wheels Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds had...but this game can't be perfect, because everything else I love about it. I enjoy the silly art, the bassy music, the 80s hair style, even the combat. I really enjoyed the cheekiness of it all, but I know it might be a bit too much for some folks. I forget how I beat this way back when, but I know if I did it again, I'd have to start making maps and the like.
I've never met anyone who played Journey, and it's a super underrated gem...and also part one of an unfinished trilogy. So, I suppose it's for the best that others never found this game, so they don't feel the burden of sadness that I do. I really don't want to spoil anything here, but I love the cast of characters, the different paths you can take, the magic system...so much. And how it's told in a past tense ala diary form, can't think of a contemporary adventure game that did it like this. Please watch, enjoy, and get a play in for yourself, it's well worth it!
