Amiga Streams the Second: RL:I, Shadow of the Beast, Dungeon Master, and Wings!
Spoiler alert, Renegade Legion: Interceptor (shortened to RL:I because I'm not sure how much I'll be ranting about it) is one of my fave games period. The amount of customization and tactics involved with each different mission made me lose literal days back when. I'm honestly quite sad I couldn't devote a whole month to RL:I, but there's more than just that game on Amiga!
Such as Shadow of the Beast! I wish I didn't lose that instruction booklet, it stood out so vibrantly from everything else I had back then (it was a bright red/orange). That game also stood out vibrantly in my mind being the genesis of so many dreams and nightmares back when. But the ART and the MUSIC are so captivating, and show off how superior Amiga was in its heyday. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I've tried, I've never gotten past the castle. I give full props and rounds of applause to anyone who can!
Dungeon Master...well, might be a hot take, but I loved the concept, hated the game. Worrying about food and water stresses me out. I felt that Eye of the Beholder and Legend of Grimrock were more accessible in that regard. (and future DC commenting but Shadows of Sergoth is the Dungeon Master I wish I had back when) The character creator is really neat though, choosing how you want to proceed with given characters, and you wonder about each character's backstory and what led them here...I might have done some fanfic of this back in the day. The backstory in the manual still sticks with me to this day.
I remember watching one of Da's friends play through the entirety of Wings over the course of a month or so. Da had plenty of folks come by to play board games and video games, and I was always the little kid who followed them around because I thought they were the coolest. When I got old enough, I finally understood some of the frustration he had...because I found out the reason why planes fall. Gravity. And bullets. Lots and lots of bullets.
