Well, better late than never, but here we are, uploading the first of the first of the Drakengard (also known as Drag-On Dragoon) series, which later spun off into Nier! This was played on actual hardware, using my original memory cards from back in the day.

If you haven't heard of Drakengard, that's quite reasonable! It flew under a lot of folks radar, including my own until a friend (the same one who introduced me to Shin Megami Tensei) showed this to me and said "This is perfect for you." And wowee was he right! I will say some of the story elements make me cringe. I'm not going to type out those elements, but this is definitely a mature game that I would not recommend squeamish or cultured folks playing, or watching.

For this first part of Drakengard, I get back into my groove of the gameplay, as it is definitely clunky compared to later games. Even so, I still love it and definitely didn't mind getting back into it! Now, I wouldn't 100% everything all over again, which is why I'm glad my memory cards are still holding up so I can show off all the weapon stories!

Drakengard has three different gameplay styles, although only two of them are really prominent, that being the field combat where you play as Caim, slicing, smashing, burning the countryside as a murder prince does, and the other taking to the skies as the dragon Angelus, burning, burning, and burning the skies with her breath.

I hope you'll join me as I go through this series. We'll get to Drakengard 2 and the Nier games eventually...but we have a lot of slashing and burning to do to get there. A LOT OF SLASHING AND BURNING.
