🚽 Sit back and get ready to Name That Game!, (rip-off), in this multi-chapter rollercoaster through homebrew hell. Almost every top game you can name on the Amiga had some kind of rip-off counterpart, and in this 7 part series I attempt to cover 100 of said candidates.

This whole thing started thanks to wanting to cover magazine coverdisk games; which lead to Sensible Massacre. Sensible Massacre lead me on a journey to the Blood and Gore Late Night Lemon Special, which I wanted to do for some years, imagining it to be all about Doom games and 3D shooters - it turned out to be mostly PD homebrew games. But Sensible Massacre also took me in another direction; one which I left on the back burner for a while; the idea of a series of games which seemed to imitate other games. At first I thought about Ganesha and Jaguar XJ220, but those were just the tip of the iceberg when it came to producing 'covers' of the growing Amiga game charts hit parade.

The real breakthrough arrived in the Summer of 2018, when someone posted a link on Lemon to Aladins WHDLoad Generic Installs on the EAB file server. I'd never heard of any of the games he patched, but the first game I tried told me the answer why. It was a complete rip-off of a popular Amiga title - in this case Banana Islands; complete with ripped off samples from Jumping Jack'son. I downloaded a whole bunch of stuff, and sure enough, it was all bogus counterfeit merchandise, and I got going recording this stuff straight away.

It took two months to list 100 games, and then edit the best ones into one long timeline. The whole movie at that stage was around 2 hours, but I split off the first section into a 20 min section and polished it up in time for release December 2018. If you remember from my 2018 Waffle video, I was very excited to bring you this series. The first two parts were then re-scheduled for January, and then April and September for the other parts of this feature. But as Ive been busy with paid work since April, I realised I wouldnt have time to release the full season in September after all, and instead these shows were pushed back until November, to at revive the channel over the X-mas period. I later came up with the idea of the Roman Holiday films, to fill in the gap between September and November, and create a special mini series.

What we have here is the first chunk of games, some more of the rip-off than others, and you can be the judge of their entertainment value. They are not in alphabetical order, even though I tried to keep them together, due to constantly updating and editing these shows before the Summer of 2019; when they were all uploaded. Its very hot here as I type this in July, and we are having a heat wave right now. By the time you read this, the weather will be very much cooler. I hope some of this summer heat comes through with some of these shows.
