We can see the game alternating between brief periods of intensity of being hunted by the enemies, and long periods of down time when nothing much happens. Obviously the idea is to lull the player into a sense of security before scaring the crap out of them again. Doesn't really work if you've played the game before, and you have to be careful not to give it away with bad design, like having recognisable clues of when to expect the enemy.
