Amnesia: The Dark Descent | Hard Mode Full Playthrough
31Full playthrough of Amnesia on the recently added Hard Mode.
Hard Mode has the following features:
- Autosaves are disabled, and manual saving costs 4 tinderboxes
- Sanity dropping to zero results in death
- Less oil and tinderboxes throughout the levels
- Monsters are faster, spot the player more easily, deal more damage and stay around for longer
- There is no danger music when the monsters are near.
It was a pretty solid run, It's been a while since I played so I might have missed a few tinder spawns. At one point I got a nasty bug with a puzzle item that forced me to reload a save. I also played a bit more carefully in some areas then I probably needed to, better safe than sorry. I also prefer to kill the 2nd water monster in Cellar Archives just to be safe. I played super cautiously in the Choir and in the end, I only triggered 1 Brute spawn out of 6 I believe in it. Also keep in mind if you see me standing still and leaning against a wall or door or just fiddling around with props and obviously not leaving a room for a bit, then that's my way of showing you that I'm listening out and waiting for a patrolling monster to pass by. I was also able to save a total of 6 times. The Tinderboxes seem to be more than enough.
Overall, It was pretty enjoyable and no search music for active servants does make it quite intense. Pretty awesome of Frictional Games to support such an old title, but nonetheless still a classic and great game. This was pretty easy and was essentially just another run through the game for me, I wouldn't mind something harder or maybe a mode that adds more monster spawns to throw off veterans.
