0Welcome to Season 8 of the Retro Rumble! This time, we’re venturing into the golden era of MS-DOS gaming, where creativity thrived and iconic titles were born. Eight DOS games enter the tournament, but only one can rise as the champion!
The lineup:
Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars - A turn-based strategy masterpiece blending fantasy, tactics, and epic battles.
Dune - A groundbreaking mix of strategy and adventure, based on Frank Herbert's legendary sci-fi universe.
Loom - A beautiful, story-driven adventure game with spell-weaving mechanics and a haunting soundtrack.
Skyroads - A fast-paced 3D platformer where reflexes are everything as you navigate challenging tracks in space.
X-COM: Apocalypse - The intense, strategic battle against aliens, where every decision counts.
Sim Farm - A charming simulation game where you manage and grow your very own farm.
The Incredible Machine - A puzzle game filled with wacky contraptions and creative problem-solving.
Fallout - The post-apocalyptic RPG that started it all, with its gritty storytelling and iconic setting.
Each game will go head-to-head in an hour-long showdown, where I’ll evaluate gameplay, nostalgia, and how well each title holds up today. Only one can win the coveted title of DOS champion! Who will it be? Watch to find out.
