Analysis of "Ode to a Poe"
#poetry #analysis
Yesterday's poem was a lot of fun to write, having a simple meter, foot, and rhyme pattern.
It gave me freedom to economically castigate the poe who forms an echo chamber around them and use people as a form of income under false pretences, which under other circumstance might be called fraud.
However, since not everybody in the audience is necessarily familiar with poes and what they do, or this particular one who was not too subtly implicated, or even the form of poetry itself, I thought an analysis might be in order to explain how the poem was written and what I was thinking as I wrote it.
A room, echo.
The housekeeping,
a ritual
dogma of lies.
"I orate!" SMACK!
To berate, "HACK!"
"Cognate. I lack."
"Really? I JAQ."
"Let's mute the brute,
for what silence
can answer root?"
An OBE violence.
He speaks thus deft,
"That can't be right!"
Extorts the theft,
purloins the night.
