I guess I should've listened
before they laid me on the slab,
that a rapacious virus
can bite deeper than a jab.
It feeds on alveoli,
its gluttony inchoate.
A trail of tiny glochids,
a pavement down my throat.
The keys of preparation
laid out like a frieze,
to play my body's organs,
and their secrets seize.
"Sheep to a piping shepherd,
blind will follow," I'd bray.
Yet, those are my taint giblets
lying in the tray.
My note writ in derision,
a final gasping tone,
"I trusted my media Meta"
as the saw bites in my bone.
