An extract from the First Law Trilogy and the defining moment for Joe Abercrombie's sombre anti-hero protagonist. Taken from the audio book, which is excellent. Props to Ericm's channel from where I borrowed the clip.

Slight Spoilers Below

On their journey Logen reveals the kind of person he used to be. This has always been my favorite scene involving Logen Ninefingers and also why I think it shoots down the Bloody Nine being a split personality, as here he acknowledges the terrible things the Bloody Nine has done as his own and accepts them with resignation. He never once excuses himself, nor even bring up the Bloody Nine save to name himself as such. While later in the series (Red Country) we see him acknowledge the Bloody Nine as a separate person - " Stay away from me when the fighting starts. That mad bastard from thirty years ago? Sometimes he comes calling." - the original trilogy never really conveys that idea to other people. The only time we really get the idea they're two separate entities is the first time we see Logen switch into the Bloody Nine. 'No, I'm free of you...'
