Android: How To Fix Dissapearing / Grayed Out USB Preferences (Google Pixelbook Go, Google Pixel)
What is going on everyone? Leon checkin' in & we are at it again with another video!
In today's video we will be talking about the disappearing or grayed out USB Preference problem I’ve been having with the Google Pixel line, Google Pixelbook Go & charge sync cables.
Now, I’ve mentioned these items specifically because they are the only combination of devices I’ve been able to duplicate the problem with.
Specifically, the problem is only duplicated between these devices using either the included Google Branded charge sync cable or another brand like Aukey.
Interested enough, those cables that didn’t work with these devices, worked fine with other Chromebooks like the Google Pixelbook and Lenovo Duet 5 and the Pixel line.
That also means that the Google Pixel 5a and the Pixel Line itself, ideally, isn’t the issue here since this device worked fine with other Chromebooks.
Also of note, my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 had no issues working with the Google Pixelbook Go, even with the cables that didn’t previously work.
For reference, I’m using the 8th Gen Intelcore I5 with 16G RAM and 128SSD.
All things being said, that’s where the community comes in handy to help others.
If you’ve noticed this issue with the same or similar items, let’s us know in the comments below.
Also, if you’ve noticed this issue with another Chromebook or other branded phone, I’d be interested to know as well.
So that brings us to the solution to the problem: Use a different cable.
Cable brands that have resolved this issue between the Google Pixelbook Go & the Pixel Line include the Amazon Basics brand and Anker.
If you have found another brand cable that has also hasn’t caused any issues, please us know in the comments below as well.
The Amazon branded cable, to me, is the laughable of the two because Amazon is a competitor to Google in many things and their cable solves a Google Hardware issue.
Following in this video, I’m going to demonstrate the problem for those who haven’t seen it.
I’m also going to demonstrate the solution using Amazon branded USB-C to USB-C cables in the 2.0 and 3.1 spec.
I like these cables because they work well and come in at a good price.
That being said, I’ll place them in the description below.
As always, we only feature products or services I buy, use or am interested in.
All things said… Let's go ahead… And get into it!
