0DM Notes: It was important to separate everyone at first so that they would have no backup, no moral support, nothing to help them against the pain which the Lady had prepared especially for them. Aurelia cares about her family and city, and so she lost her connection to them. Lake desires companionship, and so they lose it (and because their player never fully developed Lake's character flaws, the loss has a mechanical component to make sure the player would feel it). Gruunash seeks to control their strong, orcish emotions, and so he loses his control. And Lilly takes great pride in her natural skills and talents, and so her talents are twisted against her.
