Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has pleaded for privacy from the media and public after being criticized for taking a second holiday this year. The Prime Minister has faced criticism over his holiday after the Courier Mail reported that he will have 37 days off after the trip this year, 25 of which he will spend in parliament. Queensland's Prime Minister, Annastacia Palaszczuk, requested privacy while obtaining permission. Palaszczuk's team quickly pointed out that the prime minister's job required much more than just sitting days in parliament. Issues facing Prime Minister include the youth crime crisis and facilitating planning and infrastructure for 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane. Deputy Prime Minister Steven Miles will take office as acting prime minister while Palaszczuk is in Europe. He will return to duty on September 11. On Saturday, it was reported that Labor was dealing with internal unrest over Palaszczuk's leadership ahead of next year's state elections. Victims youth crime took to the streets of Brisbane last week to protest stronger laws for young offenders amid a series high-profile cases. Palaszczuk and Today presenter Karl Stefanovic had a heated exchange on the issue last week after the prime minister refused to meet march participants and instead did so privately. "And I spend time with people. You know, that's how I work."
