The Panthers got a big boost on the eve of their final battle when star-back Dylan Edwards signed a long-term extension deal with the club. Edwards, who is under contract until end of next year, has re-committed to Penrith on a $3.4 million four-year contract that will run until end of 2028 season, Sydney Morning Herald reported. The 27-year-old's contract goes beyond deals transferred to Penrith co-caps Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo. The Panthers also keep Brian To'o, Liam Martin and Moses Leota on their roster until 2027. I'm really grateful for making my debut for this club and then showing me the confidence be able to extend my stay here; it's really gratifying and I look forward it," Edwards said in a club statement Wednesday night. Edwards has become one of the league's most damaging fullbacks in recent seasons "I want to have a lot of success at this club. We've played a lot of football together and the future looks really exciting with the people here. Panthers head coach Ivan Cleary said "I'm very happy to have Dyl stay with the team for four more seasons." “He is an integral part of team, not just in way he plays game, but also in way he leads and helps him connect with other players. "It belongs to Dyl Panthers. He spent a lot of time playing with core of our team and I'm excited for what he and the team can achieve in years to come." With Edwards locked out, the Panthers will now turn their attention to fifth-eighth Jarome Luai Edwards' extension will join Brisbane's Pat Carrigan, Dolphins' Tom Gilbert, Eels stars Mitchell Moses Dylan Brown, Souths duo Cam Murray, and Sharks star Tevita Tatola to join his contract at the NRL until at least 2028.That means he's one of eight players to have been Nicho Hynes Titans captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui. Penrith's attention will now be turned to Jarome Luai, the eighth free agent on November 1. Luai's future at the club remains uncertain;The 26-year-old still lacks a manager and will likely manage more on the open market than Penrith can pay him. Penrith is expected to hold talks with five eighth players injured in the coming weeks to determine his interest in staying at club.
