We started our factory tour series a few years ago, but really got deep into it in 2019. We continued the series in March of 2020, but had to pause it for obvious reasons. Now, we'll be uploading the remainder of the tours once every week or two. We've previously toured case manufacturing facilities, but they don't actually color or make the metal; instead, most of the factories we've been to have been at the end of the supply chain, and so our tours in 2019 and 2020 began to get deeper down the supply chain to the source. We've seen how cases are painted (linked below) and have also seen the electrophoretic deposition and electroplating (e.g. nickel plating) factories, which are two tours we haven't yet uploaded. This one, again, looks specifically at anodizing, which is one of the most common ways to coat a PC component. This process is particularly used for aluminum products, often 5000- or 6000-series alloys found in cases and keyboards.
