In this week's show, we're mostly covering the big three silicon makers: NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all had announcements (non-rumor ones, for once) this week. In a completely obvious fashion, NVIDIA told onlookers to get "amped" for GTC, which is absolutely a reference to the rumored Ampere GPU that will succeed Turing. This will likely be a science or data center-focused product at first, but will eventually see RTX 3000 cards follow (or whatever they end up calling them). Intel, meanwhile, tweeted teasers of its Xe HP GPU, a large, socketable chip (at least in early debug state) that will be launching to data center clients first. AMD has its earnings reports up, including news on increased CPU sales and decreased GPU and semi-custom sales. Semi-custom is expected to pick back up as the manufacturing of Sony Playstation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X consoles commences. Additional news items are also included, like a follow-up on the SMR hard drive story and some others.
