Electroplating & Nickel Plating Factory Tour for Computer Parts
Electroplating is a complex process with a lot of toxins that have to be carefully filtered. The process is used heavily for computer parts, and this tour of a factory in Taiwan shows it.

Electroplating is used in parts made all over the world and in many industries. Nickel is the most common, but gold-plating is also done in this factory (and other metals). This factory plates all kinds of products, including seat belt buckles (also heat treated for strength), pen clips and buttons, heatsink coldplates, computer case components, scuba diving gear, and more, but that's what we saw getting plated while visiting. The factory is located in northern Taiwan and is used by computer case maker Lian Li, who connected us with the factory for the tour and aided in translation. If you've ever wondered what electroplating, nickel-plating, or gold-plating is, this factory tour will give a better understanding of those processes.
