ANOTHER Doom 2016 SCRUB!
150The classic Doom games are some of my favorite games of all time. Doom (2016) is one of the best games of the 2010s. Doom Eternal is one of the best games of the 2020s. What about Doom 3? I like Doom 3 too. It's still excellent to this day and still leagues better than a lot of shooters today.
I can't believe I saw two hooplas about how people suck at the 2016 game. The first one was Polygon back in 2016 and that one was hilarious. The second one is right now 9 years later by a console peasant, which is also equally hilarious. Seriously, he's actually trying to duck and take cover. This is a game where you run, gun, jump, and shoot, not a pop-up cover shooter.
The thing is playing Doom 2016 like a modern military shooter is one thing, but trying to win a console war is another. He claimed that Doom (2016), which is a 9yo game at this point (jeez, that makes me feel old), is running at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro.
The thing is a base PS4 can run it on 60 FPS. That's right. It runs at 60 FPS on the base PS4, but it does use dynamic resolution, which sometimes lowers the resolution to maintain the 60 FPS range. In the middle of combat, you're not going to notice it.
Still, that's an amazing accomplishment for a console released in late 2013. It just shows how well-optimized the game is. So, good on you, Doom (2016). I can't wait for the new one.
