Another Sonic 1? (Review Video)

480p is recommended for best Quality.

Something interesting that I discovered about the well-known video game Sonic The Hedgehog.

NOTE: Before you all go shouting ''IT'S TOO SLOWWW'' a million times I will point out that the game is running in PAL 50Hz on a European SEGA Mega Drive model 1 console on purpose, so i'm well aware that it's running slower. I purposely showed the game in this format. (I like it).

I came across a Japanese copy of the game a few years back and because it wouldn't fit in my European SEGA Mega Drive console I did the opposite, instead of widening the slot on my console, I opened up the cartridge case and took it out and put it in a western Mega Drive cartridge case to avoid widening my Mega Drive slot (which I eventually did anyway). But without fully checking the game properly by playing through it I just assumed it was identical to the PAL version of the game when in fact it wasn't.

The PAL version of the game lacks some graphical enhancements such as Green Hill Zone's scrolling clouds, water rippling in Labyrinth Zone and the correct level order on the stage select/sound test screen which I assume was also missing in the original North American Genesis version.

The Japanese version that I came across has all those graphical enhancements included. Just check it out.

I probably should've called it revision 1 seeing as it's the first rom modification but it doesn't matter, it's only so I can tell it's a different cartridge. It's really revision 1: version 2 (very confusing).

Enjoy!
