This is me playing one of Antstream Arcade many challenges. The game in question is "Dark Seal" / "Gate of Doom" for the Arcade which is one of my favorites. The challenge name is "Flimsy Fantasy" and the description is "Score as much as possible without taking a hit!"
There are shields you can obtain that can block damage so even though you get hit the challenge only ends if you take damage.
The levels themselves mostly come to muscle memory since there are a few places where you need to know an enemy will spring on you and if you are too careless you will get hit.
The seconds level boss is the first real hurdle that will stop many runs. It is slightly faster than you, will run at you, flails its arms lie crazy and throws mines around the room. It can be defeated without any additional tools but it is extremely tough to with the slow knight. The most consistent way I found on doing this is to get a treasure chest from the '?'-magic and that it will drop either boots for speed or armor so you can tank 3 hits. The best case scenario is to get both of course.
The magic is a good way to progress through parts that are tough to get through without taking a hit. Few of the magic like rock, giant ball and tornado make you invincible where as most of the rest will still allow you to take damage and if you had shield they don't apply while you are in magic form so they are a last resort effort since they do give you a few second invincibility after transforming.
