This AOE2 map guide is all about Socotra. Socotra is a really crazy map that tends to include A LOT of laming in some form. Recently had it's own AOE2 tournament, Masters of Socotra.

Socotra is a very small map where both players start really close together and resources are scarce. This leads to a lot of laming, whether that be laming the elephant, walling resources or killing deer. Socotra is designed to have quick games and they are usually very fast paced. Socotra is the kind of map that you don't want to play if you are quite rigid with regards to build orders due to the fact that you have 2 less sheep and only 1 elephant. no standard build order will work with this. in my opinion, the best civs to use on Socotra could be inca, mayans, franks, berbers, tatars and mongols.
