This is how to fix Model Details being stuck, or reverting itself when exiting the settings menu. If you can't change model detail to any other then the default one for you, which may be Low, Medium or High, this solves this issue easily and safely, don't change any other parameters and back up the file if you are worried.

Location example: C:\Users\YourUsername\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local
This is the line to change: "setting.r_lod_switch_scale" "0.350000"
Don't forget to save, and you don't need to set file to non-writable, it will just block future changes of other settings too.
