Approachable Dungeon Crawling Action Awaits! -- Cardinal Quest 2 -- #01
7Cardinal Quest 2 is an Indie, RogueLike RPG with Pixel Graphics that is all about presenting a very welcoming and approachable Dungeon Crawler to the people.
Procedural Generation of the Dungeons and optional Perma Death are present, as is a very fast playing dungeon delving style that drives you forward, as resting only occurs between floors, and your character will not retreat! There is no stair pulling or dancing here, only square dancing! And once you leave a floor, there is no return, so get what you need before you go.
There is no mana, SP, or stamina bars here, as you’re activated abilities are based off cooldowns, so filling your small bar with abilities as you adventure is a smart idea, scouring the floors to fill them up. You find these active abilities as you explore the dungeon environment, and there are a few you can grab from your small class talent tree when you Lvl Up.
A four direction Rogue Like (think North, South, East, West only movements), Cardinal Quest II offers a very approachable DungeonCrawler turn based experience, and automatically gives you gold for the trash loot you find or don’t want, greatly minimizing any potential inventory shuffling or encumbrance limits, doing much to diminish any potential points of friction for those new to more tactical turnbased action.
There is no hunger clock, corruption clock, water clock, or any other clock type pressure on the player that I can think of, unless there is some sort of ominous clock type enemy I have yet to encounter…
There is optional Meta Progression present, tied to achievements acquired in-game; they grant additional starting abilities, likely geared towards giving starting characters a chance on the hardest difficulty. You don’t have to use them, but they are a nice option for those so inclined.
Anyway, Cardinal Quest 2 is a very approachable DungeonCrawler.
