RECIPE:
Matias the Frog Aquarium Cookies from Cris Tales
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup of canned lulo fruit, blended
2 tsp. Lemon juice
Rock candy, crushed
Sprinkles
Yellow food coloring
Green & black frosting for decoration
Candy eyes
Frog cookie cutter
Small Triangle cookie cutter
Icing:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4-1/3 cup lulo syrup
(Maybe 2 Tbsp butter, melted)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, and salt together.
3. In a large bowl, add the butter, lulo, lemon juice, and food coloring. Stir together until well combined.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until combined.
5. Drop the dough on a flour surface and roll it out to about 1/2” thick.
6. Use the frog cookie cutter to cut out the cookies. Use the small triangle for the center of the frog cookies.
7. Place the frog cookies on the parchment-lined baking sheets and add about a teaspoon of crushed rock candy to the triangular holes.
8. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Make the icing by mixing together the powdered sugar and lulo syrup.
9. After cookies have cooled, assemble them by placing sprinkles in the triangle of the bottom cookie and then adding a ring of frosting to attach the top cookie.
10. Finish the decorating with attaching candy eyes with frosting and making a mouth and bow tie with frosting.
