Replay of a personal best high score from learning the game for a tournament. No cheats or savestates used.

Vs. Super Mario Bros is one of the handful of NES games ported to Nintendo's "VS. System" for the arcades.

Released a year after the NES version, the game is mostly the same, but replaces some of the later worlds with much harder stages (some of which were later reused for Super Mario Bros 2/Lost Levels).

The game also changed the warps so that World 6 is the furthest you can skip to.

Scoring is made more interesting by adding a massive bonus for beating 8-4 (100,000 points per life remaining). Things like collecting coins, getting big shell kick combos, and timing the fireworks become very important.

In order to prevent score leeching (such as dying on purpose at a checkpoint where you can collect a 1-up repeatedly), tournament rules count your 5th death as a game over, no matter how many lives you actually have left.

This run completes the game using only one warp (from 4-2 to 5-1) for a final score of 705,400, plus 900,000 for remaining lives.
