Recent events on the world stage brought this game to memory, and we decided to give it a go!

Desert Strike was a 1992 game for multiple systems, but most commonly played on the Sega Mega Drive (or Genesis). You control an Apache helicopter (that has seemingly been sent in alone) tasked with ending a madman's reign in the Middle East. The game draws several unsubtle parallels with the Gulf War.

The isometric view and controls take a little time to get used to, but the game is overall fantastic and spawned a number of sequels. It was one of Electronics Arts' best-selling games for many years.
