Given ARK comes with built in VR support, naturally the capability of stereoscopic 3D is part of the game itself.
Thanks to the YouTube user DarkStarSword (video found by Eincrou) for hinting to the launch parameter -enablestereo which fires up the game in 960x1080x2 stereoscopic 3D.
As noted by anyone who's tried this, the stereoscopic 3D output is not 1920x1080x2 Half Side by Side but rather 960x1080x2 Full Side by Side, which consists of a 3D mode not natively supported by most 3D screens along with a resolution that isn't suitable for stereoscopic monitors.
The format is also Right-Left rather than the Left-Right standard, so "out-of-the-box" this image would not be suitable for DIY units like Google Cardboard unless the perspectives can be switched.
The format does work nicely for cross-eyed use, but as you'll hear in this video, I'd definitely rather be playing with the Oculus Rift! :-)
