MISSION:
A small team of three operators and a marksman (four total) is deployed to capture and take over a factory. The incident results in a completely disproportionate response and search by Russian forces, taking the rebellion by surprise.

CAMPAIGN BACKGROUND:
After a Turkish/NATO F-16 downs a Russian Mig conducting long-range supression-of-enemy-air-defence (SEAD) missions over the Black Sea against Ukraine, the Russian intelligence agency GRU is authorised to escalate the situation against NATO. The GRU manages to activate a sleeper cell at the Republic of Altis in the mediterrenean, which in particular had been infiltrating the Altis Armed Forces for the last twenty years. The sleeper agents organise a coup d'etat against the civilian government (which was already heavily delegitimised due to a financial crisis, an EU-enforced austerity measures and entrenched corrption). The military is also authorised to open fire on any protesters.

The resulting actions diplomatically isolate the Republic of Altis, which is left with no other options than to turn to Russia and China for support and investment. As Russian troops pour in, Russia is promised a warm water port, and a base in the mediterrenean from which to attack Ukraine as well as anti-government rebels and terrorists in Syria.

However, the deployment is phrased by relevant Russian ministries as an 'investment', with heavily corporate language used by the Russian government. In response, the United States and NATO double and triple confirm with the Russian through diplomatic channels, whether the Russian troops and equipment belong to the Russian military. The Russian government makes the mistake of denying any Russian military presence on the island, and indirectly confirming the Wagner Group's presence on the island instead. As the Wagner Group is not considered an official arm of the Russian government, the United States and NATO proceed with an invasion of Altis to remove Wagner's criminal presence.

Amid the deteriorating situation, a small group of Altis Amred Forces military officers defect and create a rebel group to overthrow the military government, its Wagner Group and Russian backers, as well as the invading NATO forces. Despite their lack of actual real world military experience. Using nothing but looted equipment from their enemies.
