Hey folks,
I just have to share the above video footage with you...
Recently we performed a couple of nuclear detonation tests on our dedicated server trying to figure out how the game and in particularly the netcode would handle such an event, with massive impacts affecting thousands of network entities (Buildings, Trees, Vehicles, Players, Wildlife, etc)...
Well, it turned out that it handles it pretty well and so I present to you my preferred way of opting out of this cruel world.
Big thanks go out to "panda" who made this great nuclear script available and my man "ThunderDevil" who bit the bullet and accepted the one way ticket trip, pressing the detonator button in his helicopter right above the ground zero area, so that I could record and present you this footage :)
I am impressed by the level of detail with which we are able to simulate things today across the network. If you pay close attention you will notice even several miles around the detonation radius pretty much everything gets leveled by the blast wave...
