This is a series I totally slept on except one day when I decided to pick up AC4 and try to get into it. It did not go well. Despite my understanding being that the AC series doesn't require a lot of background reading, it still felt like I was wholly unprepared for the playstyle and I quickly put it down. With the release of AC6, I wanted to pick this up and give it a shot from the start of the series so that I could give it some real attention. I played a bit longer after this, definitely a requirement because those recording/control issues were still present from the Batman recording, and immediately scored better and could feel out the controls.

This was a bit of a crash course in learning the game and I only truly pieced it altogether after the vid was done. I can see why people love this series, because right from the start it is a very different kind of mech game with some serious speed and intensity behind it. For 1997, it just feels different and it demands your full attention. It's also, from my understanding, not all that different in the controls from the newest game. So you could throw on some shaders and upscaling and feel right at home immediately if you're a fan of that one.
