One of the originals, it has incredible charm to this day, BUT....

So there's a big, dumb argument about the phrase "has not aged well" and whether or not you're even allowed to say that. "It's a product of its own time!" or something like that.

The answer is that, yes, you're totally allowed to say that provided you use it in the right context. This borders that line. It isn't fundamentally different from Resident Evil. The tank controls, the inventory management, the setting, the scares...it's all very familiar. The QOL introductions from RE, though, make this a much worse experience going backwards. It has enough in the tank to overcome it and once you adjust to the constant dives into the menu to switch up your actions, it's just fine. Save often, take it all in, and trial and error it and you'll be fine. It holds up well enough.

I always wondered what would have happened if this were released on the SNES. It was totally possible, although it'd probably look slightly different. I'd love to see it.
