Armored Warfare is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online tactical military game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by My.com. It is currently in Open Beta and will release on PC.
Armored Warfare puts players in control of some of the most incredible, modern destructive machines to grace a battlefield. Drive modern tanks, armored vehicles and more.
Armored Warfare is set in a modern virtual world where the player takes on the role of a mercenary employed by a private military company. The game offers players the opportunity to participate in battles across co-op player vs. environment campaigns and team-based player vs. player matches in a variety of armored vehicles, main battle tanks, and long-range artillery. Players can customize their vehicles with upgrades and retrofits that affect the way the vehicles perform in-game.
Vehicle classes
Players can obtain vehicles in five vehicle classes: Main battle tanks (MBTs), AFVs (armored fighting vehicles), light tanks, tank destroyers, and artillery from Non-player character weapon dealers. MBTs such as the M1A1, Challenger 1 and the T-90 are the traditional heavy armor, built for maximum firepower and absorbing damage. AFVs such as the M2 Bradley, BMP-3 and the Warrior are highly mobile and well-suited for spotting enemies and remaining concealed. Self-Propelled Guns or artillery such as the M109, Palmaria and the PzH 2000 utilizes indirect fire to deal damage to enemy vehicles at long range. Tank Destroyers such as the M1128 MGS, and the B1 Centauro mount the same high-damage guns as the main battle tanks, but on a much lighter and more mobile platform with better camouflage. Light tanks such as the Stingray and XM8 are lightly armored and more mobile versions of the main battle tanks, effective at flanking and making rapid maneuvers, but far less capable of absorbing or deflecting damage.
Customization
Armored Warfare will offer players a wide array of vehicle and base customization options. It will be possible to unlock additional vehicles and equipment as players progress through the game as well as visually customize their vehicles.
Player vs. Environment
PvE missions are designed for a group of five players to fight against artificial intelligence (AI) controlled bots. Players can queue for missions individually or grouped with up to four other players in a platoon. Missions can be selected from several difficulty levels up to insane, where success depends on the vehicles the players bring, coordination between the team members and skill in the PvE arena.
Unlike many other MMO action shooters, Obsidian Entertainment, with its background in RPGs, has added a storyline element to Armored Warfare. The story takes place in the 2030s, in a world where economic and political chaos has given rise to private military companies, where conflict is business.
