The gameplay progression is a bit clunky. Some guards you can't talk to, but some you need to in order to progress the story. It doesn't help with the dog slow walking speed. I'm also slowly realizing that the components people say are part of a living world—such as the shares increasing in price (allegedly, they don't seem to have done that yet), poisoning the bread, cooking food by a fire—are very much part of the main path of the game (aside from the shares, admittedly). It makes it much less impressive. I'm enjoying the game, but it isn't some masterpiece of interactivity yet.
