Thanks for checking out my new Civilization-themed song! It's always such a blast to work on these. This is based off "Obwisana", a traditional Ghanian folk song and children's game. Specifically, I took heavy inspiration from the arrangements by George Strid, F. Turnbull, and Victor Johnson. Drums and polyrhythms are essential to West African music, and my theme also includes use of the xalam, kalimba, adowa bells, and balafon during certain points. The ancient and medieval themes are based on Ghanian drum circles, while the Industrial and Atomic themes take some elements of the highlife music genre, which originated in British-controlled Ghana.

As a neat reference, the Industrial theme features a section from the original Civ soundtrack, the melody from "Mama Munu Dile Late", a Kongo ambient theme that many consider to be the best ambient track in the game. I included it not only because my track is similar to Civ 6's Kongo theme, but to draw attention to Zachary Palumb's amazing arrangement of this song that you can find here: https://musescore.com/user/36883767/scores/6715563

Now I usually put all the info about the piece in the description but I want to take the time to give a quick update for y'all, especially where I've been the past few months. I haven't quit making music, in fact, the opposite. I've been contacted by an indie game studio to help make music for their upcoming strategy game. I can't say more due to an NDA, but I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. The reason I'm saying this is because some tracks currently on this channel might be licensed out to appear in that game, so If anyone wants to use these tracks for anything contact me and we'll discuss.
