So this one has been waiting in the wings for a while, but I wanted to put it out before the Creative Director letter drops now that I have had a chance to really compile my thoughts.

Long story short: In August 2018 Intrepid says they are closing/suspending Alpha 1 sales. The reason why there are two verbs is because they used two. In some places they say suspending which is a temporary closure. In other places they say closing which is permanent. In fact, in the letter they mailed out to followers the word suspended does not appear. During the livestream the word suspended and the work close both appear.

Although the road to hell is paved with good intentions, sometimes we have to look at the intentions of the company. I have zero doubt Intrepid was intending to push forward with their rapid development and launch before 2020 and never need to think about reopening the Alpha 1 sales. The thing is, now 10 months and 15 days later, the game has not launched.

For the hype train, for the marketing push to continue, Intrepid Studios NEEDS a product they can sell. The only viable product would be Alpha 1 access. With that said, opening it up before all 10,000 of the existing Alpha 1 testers have had a chance
