I had a chance to interview Steven Sharif, the Creative Director on Ashes of Creation regarding the new Creative Director letter. The interview went really well, we talked about the letter most of the time, but Steven had some free time so we got into things like Archetypes in Alpha 1, Unreal Engine Updates, and a few bits and pieces about Ashes of Creation summoners.

This interview also demonstrates why Steven Sharif is the man, the myth and the lettuce. No, wait, that's me. He's the man, the myth, and the legend. We were just casually chatting about the Creative Director in Discord at 8pm Pacific and I asked him if he wanted to stop by the show. I was mostly joking because I know how busy he is. Low and behold, he was like “sure” and then well I had 16 hours to finish cutting a video and to prepare for an interview. The interview went great! People were expecting me to treat Steven like an answer vending machine. Don’t they know we only do that one time per year? No developer should have to sit in the hot seat with Jahlon for more than one grilling a year.

There is a sprinkling of people who are upset about the dates in the letter. To be fair, those dates, that information is amazing. It's exactly what we needed, exactly what we needed to see, and it gave us a six month road map.
