Next in my search for how far do "free" games let me play, the PC version of a mobile port, Asphalt Xtreme. This is a game that has nothing to do with asphalt, since it's mostly off-road, and it's nothing extreme about it either.
Look, I know free-to-play games have to make money somehow, and I know Gameloft are one of the best mobile game developers out there, but these things are ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as Fallout Shelter, mind you, which can put a lid on fun in less than 15 minutes of gameplay, but damn it if it doesn't find ways to stop you from progressing at every corner. Aside from the fact that it's still buggy, even though not as buggy as a few months back when I first tried to play it, the game shows almost everything it has to offer in its first half hour. And then BAM! pay or scram! If I were to pay for everything this game asks upfront, I'd be bankrupt in a week. Honestly, the 50 minutes of footage I could gather, including multiplayer, have been conclusive enough for me. I don't know to whom this game caters, but it's silly as hell. With the money and time you can save on this game, just play something else, something actually fun.
