Listens to Bleed once!
This song is my Hopes And Dreams for the album. It was originally called Vengeful Spirit, actually, but a friend suggested that it doesn't fit the title. And I think she was completely right; it fits more as the end of the final boss for me, since the end is supposed to be really emotional. And yet, it still has that aggression from the character this is related to: the Vengeful Spirit himself. This becomes his happy ending, whatever his unfinished business was becomes fulfilled, and he can finally rest easy.
So, not even joking about that "Listens to Bleed once" thing. Of course I took some Meshuggah like cues, it still needed that dark edge to it. It's kind of funny to me though that I'm doing a very heavy rhythm to the Axis changes. It's the least dark chord progression I could possibly be playing bleed to. Nevertheless, it is structurally inspired by Hopes And Dreams, if it wasn't obvious, but this song is what gave birth to the motif that became ever so prevalent throughout the album: the Story Time motif. It's a really interesting melody, I think, but I definitely didn't think it would inspire so much out of me. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!
