The One that started it all!
Man, I cannot begin to express how happy I am that this song can finally see the light of day in full. It was the first song I wrote, a full month before I decided to turn it into an album. Little did I know the journey it would take to be finalised. There exists an early mix version on my Newgrounds page, just like a couple other songs on this album, and listening to that original version is honestly really fun, but also kind of sad. It's not only an indication of how far I've come in terms of mixing, but also how far this album as come. And frankly, I kind of don't want to be done with it.
One thing I'd like to note is that this is my first, and currently only 4k video! I rented a Canon Rebel T8i from a company called BorrowLenses, and I got it because it was pretty cheap to rent, and it did 4k/24fps, which is what I always wanted to do. Now, for Vengeful, Blood Son, and Aspirations, I downscaled all of them to 1080p, because of a snafu with the camera for the first two that made them 1080p raw, and I kept the trilogy for the final boss the same resolution. This one however, since it's the song most close to my heart, I made sure it was filmed and then exported in 4k. It needed to be. It's too special to me.
So, this song's inspiration came off the back of the FamilyJules cover of the Pokemon Battle Tower theme in Sword & Shield. I had listened to it when it first came out, but around the time I was writing this song, I had just listened to it again. And, that song is incredible, but it's of course, a Toby Fox song. Not only that though, but Shady Cicada has a video about writing a Boss Theme, and after watching that, I came up with this song, with the Battle Tower as my inspiration. Hell, I cannot be more proud of the result of this song. I hope you enjoy it too!
