Assassin's Creed Revelations - 100% Playthrough - Main Story - Part 5 of 9
The saga finishes. The final part of Ezio's story takes place largely in Constantinople (not Istanbul), helped out, of course, by a few people. This final stanza takes places decades after the events of the second game, with Ezio now being an older, revered Assassin.
A few broad thoughts on this game compared to Brotherhood: the devs stripped a lot of the different types of things to do, in favour of a more slimed, down, sleek experience. You lose a lot of things over the previous game, but Ubisoft decided to go for quality over quantity.
Starting with the map; Constantinople seems a lot smaller than Rome to me. I enjoy the vast openness of open worlds, but the Ubisoft decided to go for density over expansiveness. The types of missions, as mentioned, are slimmed down, but I generally prefer what they've done in this game. The side missions seem more relevant and engaging. Without giving too much away, Desmond's past and Altair's elder years are explored, which add a lot to both characters.
The game isn't perfect, though. The very start of the game is buggy for no reason, and was never officially fixed by Ubisoft. The wonky controls are still present (though not as bad as in AC3). There is the standard Assassin's Creed jank, but the game is, in my opinion, an overall much better experience than Brotherhood. Ubisoft fixed, for the most part, the biggest issues I had with Brotherhood: descriptions are overall clearer, the challenges are better thought out and as far as my memory goes, none of them are tedious (apart from some of the bomb challenges, though I ended up enjoying bombs more than I thought I would).
Overall, a great game, better than Brotherhood, and a satisfying conclusion to the Ezio Auditore trilogy.
